Port Augusta Man In Hospital After Weekend Crash

A Port Augusta Motor Cycle Club member, Arnold Melvin Tayne, was injured in a mid night collision on Main Road, Pirie weekend. He was taken to Pirie Hospital with minor injuries as his motorcycle struck a car driven by Spencer Woodroote. Tayne remained under observation but no broken bones were reported.

Sedan and Fruit Truck Damaged in Evening Collision

A Weidan motor car and a heavy fruit truck were damaged in a collision at the intersection of Alexander and Florence streets shortly after 6 o clock last evening. No one was injured. The vehicles were driven by Mr Gentriifen of York Road Pirin West and Mr P Rostalow of Florence Street. The sedan's offside front mudguard was stove in the cap ripped from the wheel the number plate buckled and one headlamp dented. The petrol tank of the near side of the truck was damaged.

Talkies in Pirie Church Introduced During Evening Service

For the first time sound pictures were shown during a Pirle church service at the Methodist Church in the evening. J. Keley of Central Methodist Mission brought the film to Pirie and supervised the screening. W. Curry presented the service from Salomontown, with community singing and a moral tale. The film outlined two missionaries separated by danger who resolve to “stick it out,” illustrating faith and endurance amid a plague and supply runs, ending with reunion. The event, organized by the religious Film Society, drew an interested crowd at Tennyson Church.
