Twelve vehicles, from 18 ton trailers to a small hopper truck, moved soil for nearly three miles and by 3 am had carted over 20 tons, protecting 40 chains of bank from water encroachment.

Found Dead in Memorial Park
Mr Nicholas Kotaras aged 16 years after a period of ill health was found dead in Memorial Park. Cause of death heart failure. Born on a Greek island, he arrived in Australia over 20 years ago and lived in Pirie 16 years. He left a family of six, five of whom live in Pirie. One son Peter was electrocuted at Pirie Children's Playground on November 25. Bodies were found by Denis Kershaw Ken Warby and Bob Hagen on a path near 11 o clock. Burial was postponed due to floodwaters and held Monday afternoon.
