Basle police and an aeroplane hunted two German desperadoes who robbed a Basle bank, killed two employees, and escaped with cash. A boarding house hold dispute led to a revolver clash that killed one constable and wounded another. The pursuit killed two more policemen and a policeman who shot a motorcyclist died of remorse after his mistake.
Adelaide reports a government statistician's annual record showing the 1933 death rate at 44 per 1000, the lowest for the state, with infant mortality at a new low for any Australian state. Natural increase, births, and marriages rose, while resident deaths fell by about one fifth. The infant death rate stood at 31.69 per 1000 births, markedly below the world low of 31.32 set by New Zealand in 1942. Twenty four people over 93 died, including three centenarians.

In 1934 she killed a former lover over threats of desertion, but tuberculosis and incurable illness led to a two year sentence with early release as a first offender. She then fell for Storges Vernon who was also ill, and they chose to end it all.
A St Paul report says Edward Bremer, banker and heir to a brewing family, was kidnapped while driving to his office. Ransom of 200000 dollars was pledged but no further contact has been made, leading to fears he was killed. The case mirrors the Hamm kidnapping currently on trial.
Adelaide Bronday reports Krishnamurti the Indian theosophist and teacher invited to the Commonwealth by John Macksy of Sydney will dock at Outer Harbor on February 10. Once hailed as the second Messiah in the East, he later repudiated the claim and has since become a noted preacher and theosophist. A warm heart is described as the cheeriest central heating.
In Adelaide a young man, Mr AE Burford of Gordon street Kilkenny, stripped to rescue 20 sheep trapped by a bushfire along Gorge road. He swam to pull them from flames and smoke, after taking burn damage stepping on embers. Burford belongs to a 50-strong group fighting the blaze for Messrs A Hell and Smith. He had previously saved a boy from drowning at Loftla Park three weeks earlier.
Mr J Scullin leader of the Australian Labor Party in the Federal Parliament will visit Moonta on Tuesday afternoon February 13 and address a public meeting. He will be accompanied by Mr Borde a former Cabinet Minister. A similar meeting will be held at Wallaroo in the evening.

Intensive search in Blackwood district Adelaide today involved dragging aterholes and dams to locate George Harold Trott a 33 year old man who vanished after his father and two brothers were attacked with a hammer while asleep. Police believe he may have taken his own life somewhere in the scrub near Blackwood as fifty men from Kalyra Sanatorium and locals search remote blocks and watch for clues.

Two motorcyclists, including 20 year old David Blanchard, collided with a milk lorry driven by Arthur Alfred Pitman on Mount Barker road near Sims Bros. The impact left Blanchard severely injured and the other rider also hurt as the lorry’s force caused the crash.
Auckland report states Mrs Jane Craig aged 33 and her baby son were found in a creek with throat wounds. The man in the house killed himself, the woman likely to be bed due to ill health, police inquiry ongoing.
