Wellington report says thousands waited in vain as the council planned to telegram Mr. A. G. Harper protesting that the Royal car moved 10 to 15 miles per hour instead of the promised four. Hokitika figures complain locals saw nothing as the royal party passed quickly.
A weather worn belt with a watch was found by a party north of Port Augusta. Inside the watch is a pasted label reading G. C. Blackmore Port Augusta and the date November 1 192. The owner and relatives are being sought. Mr. E J Jeffery of Solomontown retrieved the belt.
At Unity Hall on Wednesday night Pirie members of the Australian Government Workers' Association resolved to ask the Engineering and Waley Supply Department to provide a suitable ablutions and changing room at the Florence Street depot. Outstanding claims by Harbors Board employees and Pirie Hospital laundry staff were discussed.
In Burra Police Court Mesors 1 1, W Bednall, HJ B Jesmison, and ER Davey fined a total of £23 2/6 for admitted liquor breaches. Walter John Hesding of Burra fined £12 6 with 12/6 costs and £3 5/ witness fees. Eric John Franklin of Burea fined £5 with £3 15/ costs for obtaining liquor during prohibited hours. Colin Keith Hobba of Burrs fined £5 with 10/ costs. Insp. C Hudson prosecuted.
