London dispatch reports continued heavy shelling of Tobruk with Australian guns joining the bombardment. The persistent fire throughout the day signals a planned infantry assault likely to follow in coming days. Other Libya fronts show Italian forces pressed back and Allied patrols active around Abyssinia and Greece with variable gains and losses.
In a rugged confrontation the Greeks push forward, while the Halians struggle to mount a decisive counter. The scene remains tense as forces clash, with both sides displaying resolve and endurance.
The Royal Air Force, amid bad weather, bombed ports in occupied France and an attack lasting two to three hours struck a town in south west England. Fires from the damage were controlled, with little other activity reported.

In Darwin a blacklist of hotels was declared by the North Australian Workers' and Carpenters' unions to protest beer price rises. About 100 members and the public attended a meeting where a 12 member strike committee was formed. Striking workers vow to down tools if prices are not lowered and to reinstate the bottle and type serve method once common in hotel bars.
Adelaide authorities move to prevent a 1000-man gap this picking season. A public call will recruit pickers with police stations near the Murray registering willing workers and growers seeking staff. Labor exchanges and central depots to channel labor are planned, with picking to start in 3–4 weeks and peak in two months.

While fitting a sleeper from a 4 stack a sleeper toppled striking McGee on the head and shoulders and Roberts with lesser injuries. They were treated at Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital.
Debate erupts after Chief Secretary A L McEwin says he will review all reported lotteries before action. Opposition leader Richards brands the move alarming and questions police and ministerial roles while officials confirm raffles and patriotic fund games are illegal and subject to prosecution.
Adelaide Police Court heard allegations that a stallholder at Den tal Market coerced a Norwood High School boy into stealing goods from his employer. Leslie Elvy faced amended charges over receiving nine drawer handles from H G Pearson Co and about 200 solder sticks from Bridgland Ltd, knowing them stolen. The youth, William Dickson, admitted stealing items while at Norwood High School, saying Elvy pressured him to supply items to sell. The case was adjourned to January 24 as defendants contest evidence and police statements.
