A Cairo Times report says tanks and large artillery pour toward Tobruk with Italians braced for its fall. British forces concentrate in Tobruk, while operations press on, amid mixed signals of Libya’s defense and possible Western Desert moves.
Greek forces push from Pogradec toward the coast with reported new successes between Teplena and Klisura as Italy suffers mounting losses in Albania. Athens says 35,000 Italian troops were embarked at Valona, with more sick and wounded leaving recently, while RAF strikes hit Elbasan on the Skumbi River amid heavy anti aircraft fire.
London reports Admiralty dispatch saying HMLS Tuna pursued a U-boat after a night surface encounter in enemy waters. Tuna fired with its gun and claimed a hit on the conning tower, then pursued for nearly an hour before diving as four additional vessels appeared. Tuna suffered no damage or casualties.
A report from Constanta claims nine Soviet warships were warned to stay out of Romanian waters after appearing off Sulina. Bucharest confirmed no official details. A Budapest message spoke of a German munitions train crash with unknown casualties and repairs expected to take weeks.

Mr Ernst Gruenberg a 43 year old Austrian refugee was killed by a girder at a Hilton plywood factory yesterday as production nears. Friends recall his harrowing Nazi past and say the death is a heavy tragedy marking his return to prosperity and a fresh start in Australia. He was a skilled wood engineer with a narrow escape from Vienna and his family accompanied him to London before an unjust closure of his factory forced a perilous return.

Government says four radio stations were shut last night under national security regulations. Minister W M Hughes asserts no relation to Jehovah's Witnesses and staff of 41 at SKA and five at SAA were not dismissed. Stations remain active with non broadcasting duties and staff absorbed elsewhere. Names Albert Arnold Bottomley Harold Leslie George Ernest Haddy Arthur appear in listings.
