Pirie Labor leaders argue a shorter work week is essential to prevent machinery from displacing workers. They cite six hour days with six hours pay and warn machines could threaten capitalism and democracy. The reporters quote Rev. T. W. Fraser and Dr. Coffey on industrial reform and societal change.
Dr Coffey argues six hours a day as the only way to reduce unemployment amid enduring machinery advances. Sunday in Melbourne under Davey Street verandah a policeman on traffic duty at the scout jamboree was hit by a revolver bullet and fell unconscious on the footpath. He was taken to a private hospital for treatment.

A telescope sighting at Manly revealed his plight as multiple boats, including the Captain Cook, and an aeroplane joined a search. He was found before nightfall and picked up by the Captain Cook in good condition.

At a State Government meeting last night the Master Bakers' Association decided to raise bread prices over the counter by fourpence a loaf from tomorrow to offset a Federal Nour tax. There will be no change in the delivery price of 3d. Premier B S B Stevens reiterated the Government’s plan to use the Flour Acquisition Act to block bread price increases.
In Port Adelaide Police Court, Edolph-Victor Behncke charged Rubina Behncke with malicious threats toward him. He described Christmas morning violence when a rolling pin was used, with his wife pleading guilty under provocation. he sought a binding over to keep the peace.
Weekend rainfall recorded only two points with Saturday and Sunday showing light totals. Earlier falls faded, delaying events as the All Sports Association cricket matches remained paused awaiting resumed play after Fortniehi’s recent weather.
The South Australian Trotting Association meeting at Wayville last night produced a double dividend of 9 98 2/9 for Ribbonwowth Hamke and Hapwood in the doubles tote. There was one inventor and 64 tickets on Ribbon wood Hanks, with only one taken out on Hapwood. The investor named is Mr. Prank Moore of Port Road, Southwark.
