Alderman Robinette regrets remarks made about J L Sampson during the town council meeting on Monday night. He says the words were spoken in heat and not meant to offend, acknowledging Lampoon’s duty to uphold party dictates.
During Monday night’s council meeting Dr Middleton wished the Mayor and Mayoress season’s greetings. Alderman Gummow welcomed the Mayor back, with others echoing best wishes. The Mayor thanked the council, noting sacrifices for the town and wishing all a happy Christmas and prosperous New Year.
Daniel Kennelly longtime Port Pirie resident and former carrier died at his home on South Terrace aged 72. He came to Pirie in 1877, built a business with Aviog and later Hallyou's Ltd, owned land and farming blocks, married late, lived in Adelaide from 1944, traveled widely, and worked as a carrier until 1914. The funeral will be held in Pirie today.
A young engineer named Harcourt was electrocuted while adjusting lines after a power outage in Charleville on Saturday night. He suffered severe facial burns, was rendered insensible, and later regained consciousness unable to walk.
