Ellen Glades Evans spoke in an unsworn statement at Gladstone Circuit Court claiming she did not intend harm and sought affection. After a 30 minute adjournment the jury delivered a verdict of not guilty and she was discharged.
The Port Broughton court heard the case of Mrs Evans charged with preparing poison to harm her husband Stanley B Evans after a troubled marriage marked by daily quarrels and alleged assaults.
