A dense Pirie crowd gathered at Town Hall to receive flood damage claim forms. Police organized two queues, with forms available morning and afternoon. Most residents have returned home though some households remain unoccupied and bedding and supplies are still delayed.
Kent faced Australia in Canterbury but play was abandoned after lunch due to heavy rain and hail. Early on, Kent were 2 for 24 when a wet wicket halted action and the morning hailstorm ended all play for the day.
A Lysaghts Limited official said the striking workers are ready to endure a prolonged stoppage. Relief provisions and strike financing have reportedly been arranged to sustain the action.
R James Laidlaw Rodgers aged 64 of 111 Senate Road Pirie West collapsed and died in a betting shop yesterday. He was born in AS and employed at She Smet He 6S in Mp J Primtivilin's betting shop on Alexander Street. Police and medics attended but the cause of death is not yet known.
