Gen MacArthur announced surrender plans postponed 48 hours. First actual landing in Japan to take place Tuesday near Sagami Bay, 20 miles south of Tokyo, as fleets and aircraft move according to schedule. Typhoons threaten airborne and seaborne landings with surrender terms expected on Missouri.
The Dumei News agency reports 2,400,000 of Tokyo's prewar 6.4 million population remain in the capital. Only 37,000 to 38,000 of the city’s former 200,000 homes are still standing, with no casualty figures given. Decrease attributed to decentralisation evacuation and house removals.
In Rangoon Lieut Gen Takazi Numuti chief of the Japanese forces in Southeast Asia convened talks on surrender terms for Japanese forces in Malaya Netherlands East Indies and Tojo- Chusa. A conference will be held later today with Australian French and Chinese delegates before Lord Mountbatten meets Count Terauchi to discuss Singapore surrender prospects. Japanese delegates including Admiral Kaigye Hludo and Lieut Col Morio Tomura attend.

200 children sang under conductor E K Cooper at the Solomon Town Methodist Sunday School anniversary in Chwelt Circle Hall with seating for 400. A man named Julie Penglis of Ninth Street Pirie West fell from a motorcycle several miles from Pirie yesterday around 5 pm and was admitted to Pirie Hospital for observation. Solomontown surged to an 18 23 to 5 behinds win over Proprietary at Memorial Oval to claim the 1945 Pirie Association senior premiership. Captain F Stigwood led a high tempo display as O Leary kicked five goals for Proprietary and Solomontown’s pace and backline shut down the redlegs. The victory followed by junior premiership success earlier in the day.
