Mr. M C Turner inspector says the City Council will invite bus service proprietors to Florence street for a tender. He notes current provisions by waiting to join passengers base may rise as the city develops.

The Recorder reports N L Grimm citing chamber unity and urgency in boosting embankments to protect the city from tidal encroachment. The reply emphasizes executive support and asserts the action serves citizens' best interests while distancing from party politics in municipal matters.

The National Safety Council branch in Pirie outlines an all out Safety Week from August 2 to September 4 with a secret driving test week and awards for courteous driving under the Road Traffic Act. The Pirie Motor Cycle Club may host a safety trial and safety ideas will be highlighted. Lectures by Sgt Kohler and Insp Hudson are planned. Safety quizzes and school essays are arranged, with lighting improvements and new pedestrian crossings under consideration.
A semi-trailer owned by Golden North Dairies Ltd crashed after hitting a guide post on Pirie Port Germein Road about five miles from Pirie at 1.39 am. The capsize hurled seven hundred gallons of milk in cans crates of butter and honey and two tank units with 100 gallons milk into swamp land. Driver Alex Hutton of Laura uninjured.
Power accounts for Pirie electric works show income of 76369 pounds 11 shillings 4 pence and expenditure 71956 pounds 5 shillings 9 pence, yielding a surplus of 4413 pounds 11 shillings 1 pence. Assets reach 137817 pounds 13 shillings 8 pence with plant and buildings the largest item at 110832 pounds 11 shillings 7 pence. Sundry debtors 17512 pounds 28 pence and 5000 pounds in Government loans. Liability total 115231 pounds 15 shillings 5 pence, reserve 1540 pounds 10 shillings 5 pence, bank overdraft 3315 pounds 9 shillings 6 pence. Davis notes the heavy general fund debit and supports adopting the statements with the surplus.
In the House of Assembly Minister ML McIntosh told MP CL Davis that only 14 weekly trains run Pirie to Adel and back, so no Budd rail cars will be used on that line. J A Fargher reported that Adelaide to Perth Saturday evening trains were canceled due to low patronage, averaging under 30 per train, and no railcar service would boost business.
