Mary Cameron a 5 year old halzen maid was electrocuted at Point Piper today while using an electric vacuum cleaner. It is not known what caused the fatal shock but the woman's hands were burned.
Mr R L Butler leader of the opposition in the House of Assembly urged adjournment to challenge a regulation affecting food relief for Broken Hill by the New South Wales Government. He warned the measure would ruin longtime traders, force half NSW origin goods, and pressure South Australia’s trade and railway activity. The salvo attacked regional economic disruption and cross-border commerce.
In the House of Assembly Mr. R. L. Butler pressed Premier B. L. Hill about unemployment relief. He called the system pernicious corrupt and haemeralising though the Premier noted many schemes existed, focus remained financial. The Speaker urged Butler to withdraw the question.
A special meeting of the Victorian Amateur Athletic Association decided against including women’s events at the Victorian Walkers' Club meeting on Saturday. The Adelaide women walkers who had prepared to compete are affected, though the secretary said women may be considered on merits in future cases. The executive will not approve women competing in the same programs as men.
