The strike costs for workers at the Broken Hill mine reach £10000 as work resumes this morning after a conference with the manager. He promises to discuss assistants' claims in the talks.
South mine workers end fortnight strike over offsider pay after rejecting arbitration. Wainwright says operations resume under older loading system pending further talks. Workers to seek braceman rate adjustment and to avoid arbitration.
The Solomontown Methodist Church celebrated its twenty first anniversary with special morning services drawing about 200 pupils joining the church. Superintendent Me. P. Edwards introduced Theft and Mr S Milnes welcomed attendees to the spiritual fellowship. Rev A T Stranger led the fundamental service. In the evening Rev W Fraser oversaw the service noting the work of the British and Foreign Mission Society. Mrs J Harris sang solo and the choir performed Phot Grownert Me Year.
Wheat price held at 3/6 per bushel in Pirie on Saturday. A merchant noted farmers showing slight tendency to sell some of their stocks.
Members of Conet Rose of the North juvenile branch of the Ancient Order of Foresters were installed for the year.
