A church officer at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church found a young man leaving with a hymn book while two female companions carried another. The trio returned the books and left quietly. Thieves Break Into Two Pirie Stores
Two stores in Alexander Street suffered break ins early Saturday. Jewellery shop owner W R Riddle lost about £100 inventory including a case of watches. Horwood Hardware Emporium had a .22 rifle, ammunition and cash stolen. Entry was gained via rear doors and smashed locks. Two youths were later arrested for a separate Ellen Street raid on July 28 involving two .22 rifles and ammunition.

Cars In Triple Collision Showy Off 7.30 Pan
A Saturday collision involved three cars on a road in Alewander Street. Frederick H. J. Fischer of Arthur Crescent Ridon Park collided with Donald H. Wilson of The Terrace Pirte. Noel Fowler of The Ritter also struck Wilson. All vehicles damaged. a parsing eye witness reported a broken chair in one car.

Apprentices Tour Through Pirie and Port Augusta
A group of 150 apprentices from metropolitan engineering firms visited Pirie yesterday as the final leg of a week end educational tour. The convoy from Adelaide included 15 staff and riders by bus cars and motorcycles. The trip, known as Operation Hedu kate, was organized by R D Meco a a fifth year apprentice at General Motors Holdens Ltd. The party included apprentices from Broken Hill Associated Smelters and Port Augusta, with visits to Commonwealth Railways workshops and new diesel locomotives in Port Augusta and to Broken Hill Proprietary Co. Ltd at Whyalla.

Fire at Hotel Risdon damages storeroom and kitchen
A fire broke out yesterday afternoon in a storeroom at the upper storey of Hotel Risdon on Moppett Road Pirie. A vacuum cleaner a cot clothing and the ceiling of a kitchen were damaged. Pirie Fire Brigade extinguished the blaze with buckets of water and chemical appliances.

Church can Offer Faith in Mission to the Nation
