In Vienna on Wednesday TTC Planetta and Franz Holzweber were executed after being found guilty of murder and high treason. Holzweber shouted Heil Hitler as the improvised gallows failed to break his neck, saying Germany must become great or perish while bidding farewell to his wife.
Adam, minister of propaganda, announced documentary proof of German involvement in a Nazi uprising. Franz Heel, a German, was arrested in Upper Austria on July 25 with complete coup plans, partly written in cipher, hidden in shoe sales and his shirt. The documents confirm planned seizure of the Chancellery and provincial coup.
Australia won the toss and batted against Gloucestershire at Bristol. Woodfull and Ponsford opened for the first time since Nottingham, with Woodfull 35 and Ponsford 25 at lunch as Gloucestershire’s attack led by Parker and Dacre struggled to make inroads.
