Provincial policeman Wynn returned from Prince Rupert last Saturday and arrested Herbert Sawyer on drunkenness and indecent language charges. Justice Manson tried the case, convicting Sawyer for the second time in a month and imposing a $100 fine plus six months' costs.
Albert Ross in charge of culvert construction for Neil Keith lost about 1500 feet of lumber in high tide. The crew was corralled by Indians and the lumber is held in a slough near Smith’s Island. The price for release is high, prompting Constable Jones to travel to the island to seek a compromise once launch repairs are finished.
A Thursday afternoon celebration at the Burns home marked the sixth birthday of Clarence Burns. Many young guests attended, enjoying hospitality and a warm send off as they departed with regrets that the party was ending too soon.
Walter Founts of the engineering corps at Smith Bros has been ill this week with tonsillitis and is under treatment by Dr McPhee. He is now convalescent.

The Strongheart left port last Saturday with 25 prospectors bound for the Ingenika. Mrs Geo Frizzell announces a millinery opening for Tuesday April 6 in next Loyalist. Beatrice arrived yesterday six hours late after delays at Swanson Bay. The Native carried 50 men from Prince Rupert on a trip toward Skeena after yellow ore. Dane McMillan suffered a painful knee sprain last Saturday night and limps now. The Native will run a Port Simpson excursion today from Essington at 8 00 p m and 4 00 p m Sunday return. Akada the bootlegger was fined 100 and costs after capture at Inverness cannery. George Merrill of the Hesington cafe was confined three days with tonsillitis but back at work.
Road superintendent Clarke begins spring road and bridge repairs along the Dr Wilson residence to Jackson's corner and Dufferin street route. S N McPhee oversees the work supervising repairs to bridges and culverts and focusing on grades.
Mrs L J McArthur returned home yesterday morning on the Beatrice vastly improved in health after treatment in California since December. Her wife accompanied her as her trip through the Land of Sunshine involved many stops and was a most pleasurable journey.
A Prince Rupert jury awarded the station men employed by Fred Peterson $2540 for work done and $5000 in damages for breach of contract on a river construction project, the verdict rendered after most of last week of trial.
Inspector John T. Williams in Vancouver reports Minister consent to suspend the halibut closed season this year. Fishermen of Eseing ton and Prince Rupert are advised to publish the notice for their benefit.
Fred Eklund and R W Smart arrived from Inlgenika on Tuesday and left for Seattle to attract capitalists for their recent discovery.
