Port Adelaide unveiled the first completed playground in its ward scheme, funded by P H Pritchard and opened by Mrs. Pritchard. The event featured the Montpelier Square site, community leaders, and a ceremony with speeches by Aldermen and the Mayor, plus a reception in Rechabite Hall.
At Port Adelaide Police Court Thomas Joseph Boyan James McCarthy and James McFarlane laborers faced charges of breaking into and entering the South Australian Harbors Board warehouse at Mort Adelaide on August 8 and stealing wine and boots valued at £13 16s 7d. Police testified to forced doors cases of boots and a hidden sack of goods found in a passageway. all three denied wrongdoing and were committed for trial with bail refused.
Misa Marjorie O'Connell aged 20 residing with Mr Roberts at Franklin Street Adeline was knocked down by a motor car near Jaretina Road Port Roide, Portland at about 40 on Saturday. She suffered a scalp wound and abrasions and was taken to Port Adelaide hospital then Adelaide Hospital. The driver Mr Suinsis an accountant on Plus Street Adelaide reported the incident saying the woman swooned from a bus and fell crossing the road.
In Port Adelaide last Friday Hemera Aymn Keegan charged husband James Keegan with failing to provide adequate support. The case, heard before Mr G W Halcombe SM, saw three unsuccessful pleas for relief as the wife’s conduct disrupted proceedings. She claimed a solicitor’s letter promised housing if she left a boarder and furniture, then dismissed boarders and lost income, leaving her with three of four children in St Joseph’s.

The husband is questioned. the witness box erupts with hostility and the wife assaults him outside the court. Police intervene as the couple quarrels on the street over a hat torn from the husband.
A Port Adelaide Court session discussed maintenance cases involving wives and the absence of court representation. Officials urged postal and Adelaide officers to attend Port Adelaide to protect wives and children's interests, noting limited staff and ongoing plans to deploy an additional officer.

Robert McConnell, of Fletcher Road, Peterhead, died recently and was a respected figure in the Port Adelaide district. He enlisted at 28 in the fire and Dragoons Royal Scots Greys, arrived in Port Adelaide from Scotland 27 years ago, and worked for the South Australia Harbors Board since then. He served as an engineer on the tug Conqueror and left a widow, two sons T. R McConnell and J. W. McConnell, and a daughter Miss J. McConnell.
A Baradine liner delivered migrants to Adelaide with 13 disembarking at Outer Harbor. The vessel carried 547 aboard from London and 90 were dropped at Capetown. 25 embarked for Australia. Of the 54 to Melbourne and 132 to Sydney bound for New South Wales, a group of 51 Dreadnought boys will settle locally.
A convoy of foreign church officials travels toward Sydney aboard the Narkunda for the Eucharistic Congress. Among those passing Adelaide on Saturday are Canon Janes O'Boyle of Lisburn Belfast Rev Father Kavanagh of Kilkenny Ireland Canon AL Janssens and Father William J. Vincent of the United States.
Mr James H Protetta of Lincoln Street Vstala reported driving a motor car east along St Vincent Street when he struck Thomas Le Ray of Port Road Alberton who was crossing. Le Ray was taken to Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital with abrasions to the right thigh and left calf before being returned to his home after initial treatment.
The Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited announces its intention, after 30 days, to issue a Special Policy in place of No 1627980 held by Alfred G Lidely of Bar Kentra South Australia. The policy liability has been assumed by Colonial Mutual Life Assurance Society Limited on the life of RB Ashe, resident secretary. Dated September 7, 1928.
The Port Adelaide Rifle Club social was held at the Masonic Hall Semaphore on a Saturday evening with Mayor F. J. Brown among attendees. Trophies were awarded to T. Meers, G. W. Kitson, K. J. Matthews, and others. Groundwater spoon winners included J. R. Hendry, F Hemer, and T. Roberts. The event featured songs and speeches by J. Mart, J. T. Meer, and Fr. Brown, marking a successful gathering. The Port Adelaide Trades and Labor Council met Friday evening to review ACTS conference outcomes, with Kneehone and Barnolph attending.
