In Port Adelaide on April 7 1919 at the Local Court W J Sinclair presiding arbited between laborer Lewis Charles Biddell of Stargaretgeet North Adelaide and Poole and Steal Shipbuilders Port Adelaide Sydney under the Workmen's Compensation Acts. Biddell suffered a compound fracture of the left leg above the ankle while near a fire at work. He was awarded 118 per week but sought relief from termination dissolution or increase of redemption of liability. Medical testimony estimated a 12 month recovery with conditions. The case was adjourned to a later date.

Youthful Delinquents Plead in Port Adelaide Court
In Port Adelaide on Wednesday, Arthur Vickers, aged 13, faced larceny charges for stealing a gold bangle, brooches, a neckchain, and cash from AlphONSE Laurenti’s home on May 12. Vickers admitted breaking a back window and stealing items. he was sent to the Reformatory until age 18, with prior probation. Concoran and Vickers also faced charges over unlawful bicycle possession at Kilkenny, admitting theft and riding to Adelaide before abandoning the bike at Mile End. The Port Adelaide Orpheus Society held its twentieth annual meeting at St Pauls schoolroom Port Adelaide on May 17 with G Pudney presiding. The secretary H C Leggett presented the annual report adopting it. Officers elected included Reg Lukey Patton as president A E Melbourne as vice president W G Warren as acting conductor B Rodda as assistant conductor J Dickson C W Barton as accompanists J Marshall as librarian and P Fricker as assistant secretary J Howard as treasurer L J Michelmore and B Pellant as auditors.

Explosion on auxiliary ketch Hawthorn injures two men
An oil engine modification on the ketch Hawthorn at Birkenhead led to a gas cylinder explosion. Ernest Davy suffered facial and leg burns while his father Samuel Davy assisted and was burned saving him. Both men were treated at Port Addish Casualty Hospital. the Hawthorn departed under sail.

Cyclists Collide On Commercial Road Port Adelaide
Sherry after a weeklong ride Thursday afternoon James Canole railway porter of Castle Street Glanville and Walter Johnson of Glebe Street Alberton railway employee rode bicycles in opposite directions on Commercial Road Port Adelaide and collided. Canole was thrown to the road and rendered unconscious. He was taken to Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital and detained for observation.
