Soldier Farewell at Birkenwad Hall for Bannerman and Bull
A St George's Social Club farewell on Monday May 17 at Birkenwad Hall honored Sgt F Bannerman and Pvt 5 Bull as they depart with the Expeditionary Force. About 600 attendees enjoyed songs dances and a supper in a decorated room with Allied flags. The MC Mr J Powell presented a silver mounted pipe rack while Miss Johnson and Miss Mary Inglis gave both soldiers silver Australia and Union Jack tokens. Patriotic songs by Maggie Inglis T Braddocks and J Powell drew praise and the event ended with Auld Lang Syne at midnight.

On Wednesday evening the S A Foresters Silver Band visited Court Australia Pride to give a musical program for members and guests. The two year old band played patriotic and popular selections with vocal items. Seamen Mission Reports Busy Week and Good Attendance
Attendance at morning and evening services remained strong despite sun scarcity in port on Sunday. Miss L Waite hosted tea for seventeen sailors at Glen Osmond. An afternoon concert by W Godfrey’s orchestra drew an appreciative sailor audience, followed by a Monday concert arranged by Bollen Woodville. The Arena crew also helped prepare the Mission building, keeping the week active. the billiard room was improved and ready for use.
