Port Adelaide cement theft case in court
Port Adelaide Police Court heard a wood merchant charged on Serpe Psalcinerney’s information with larceny of cement from the Alberton plantation opposite the Alberton Hotel. Witnesses described May 2 thefts, a partially covered stack, and tracks matching defendant’s lorry. Police evidence included cement bags marked Stag Portland Cement and a key to premises. defendant admitted occasional cement dealing but claimed no knowledge of the theft.

The Port Adelaide Orpheus Society staged its 61st concert of the 28th term at the Ozone Picture Theatre in Alberton on a Tuesday evening. A large crowd attended despite subscription limits, with conductor J L Davey praised for rhythm and expression. The program featured Wagner and De Rille numbers, a double encore for the "Song of the Volga Boatmen," strong ensemble blending, and solo as well as elocutionary numbers from Merrifield Wald Linda and Basil Harford, among others.

Port Adelaide Juvenile Court Hears Horse Theft Case
Three boys pleaded guilty to using horses without consent at Draper on April 30. Inspector Nobley described riding out of paddocks. The boys were fined 2 shillings 6p plus 10 shillings costs, with a day’s imprisonment on default. The father called it a prank but accepted responsibility for his horses.

Buses Left Without Lights In Exeter And Glanville
At Port Adelaide Police Court Thomas Sowerby a Ring Street Exeter carrier faced a charge for driving a motor lorry with no offside headlight or sidelight at about 1 am on May 4. A fine plus costs or seven days in jail was ordered. Tone Cooper was absent a similar charge for a bus left in Carlisle Street Glanville about 1 30 am on May 1. The same penalty was imposed after evidence by Constables Atkinson and Spilsbury.
