A harbor pilot fell from a wharf plank near the Adelaide Tug Co yards at Birkenhead into Port River while boarding the tug Defiance to guide the Kooyong into the Basin. He suffered facial and body bruises and a broken tooth, later securing a cab to return home.
An Adelaide Steamship Company vessel named Investigator and gear were auctioned by Malin Russell and Co at St. Vincent Street Port Adelaide for owners and underwriters. The sale drew a large shipping crowd and lasted about thirty minutes. Bids began at £100 and rose in £25 steps to £920, finalizing with buyer Mr T A Brock. cargo insured sold for £50.
Fr. Gotter of the Outer Harbor police reports a Tuesday evening fire in a Farmers' Union wheat stack near No. 4 shed. The hessian covering burned and the wheat was slightly damaged. no inquest will be held. Faced with a bronchial cough, Woods Great Peppermint Cure is advertised.
Kenneth Arthur of Alsop Street Semaphore was thrown from a pony and trap on Mead Street Glanville after the pony bolted and broke the back strap. He lay unconscious before Dr Cherry treated him for facial abrasions and contusions to the knees of the pony.
On Saturday afternoon Arthur Lach of Birkenhead assisted unloading coal from the Melbourne SS Col. Hobart at North Parade Wharf. His hand was crushed between a railway truck and a lowering coal basket. Dr. Cherry treated the lacerated hand at the Casualty Hospital.
The Chief Secretary informed Port Adelaide representatives J L Price and J S Verran that the government has approved extending the concession for government service members enlisting in the Australian Imperial Forces. The arrangement covers the difference between civil and military pay as outlined in C S O circular No 411 dated August 17 1915.
