In Port Adelaide on Monday Judge J. H. Sinclair heard education cases. Daniel Dearing was fined 2/6 plus £1 costs for not sending his child Constance Dearing to school on February 28. Hugh Cairns was fined £1 plus £1 costs for employing his son Edward Cairns during school hours at a Rosewater boot shop. The wife conceded but plea not accepted. her reason cited holiday employment to cover a brother’s funeral costs. The inspector testified the boy worked during school hours. prior caution in December had not changed behavior.
