Obnoxious Odors Raise Alarm At Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide Local Board of Health reports ongoing sewer smells from the St Kilda embankment outlet and a nuisance on Junction Road. Health Officer Dr P Bollen will notify the Sewers Department and investigate Croydon sewer conditions for comparison. The Mayor promised inquiries into Croydon as a parallel issue.

Salvation Army Harvest Festival Concerts Report

The Salvation Army held a three day harvest festival from March 2 to 3 led by Col Harris with large audiences. Semaphore Church of Christ choir, Bowden Corps under Ensign James, and Glanville M ethist choir performed to good crowds with the Port Silver Band playing nightly.

Unconscious man found at Adelaide works engine room

Mr Joseph Avery of Adelaide Chemical Works reported to Port Adelaide police that Mr Ernest Britten aged 58 from Hindley Street Adelaide was found apparently unconscious in the works engine room. He was taken to Casualty Hospital and detained there for treatment.

Boating Fatality as Sailing Boat Capsizes at Outer Harbor

Seven men on the AA 23 sailing boat from Port Adelaide were caught in a gust near the Outer Harbor. One man, George Morgan of Henley Beach Road Mile End, is presumed drowned after attempting to swim to the breakwater while six survivors were rescued by the Harbors Board tug Tandanya. The crew, mostly returned soldiers, included William Pine owner, Albert Sangster, Robert Watson, Frank Griffin, John James, Cyril Findlay, and Morgan."}

Drunken sailor wheeled to station on railway luggage truck

An oversea crew member, heavily intoxicated, was found drunk near the Port Adelaide rail station. With no cab available, two constables placed him on a railway platform luggage truck and wheeled him to the police station, drawing amused stares from passers-by.
