Macclesfield Licensing Case at Port Adelaide Court

William James Mabon, licensee of the Devonport Arms Hotel Macclesfield, admitted two prior convictions while he ran the Overway Hotel in Hindley Street Adelaide. The SM noted complexities about third-offence penalties under the same licence and reserved judgment for further guidance, concluding with a fine of £25 and £1 costs or ten days imprisonment.

Waterside Workers Rotary System Rejected at Port Adelaide
At the Port Adelaide Branch meeting of the Waterside Workers Federation the ballot for officers concluded. Vigilant A Wier Loader won the treasurer post with 322 votes while J J Morrison was elected trustee with 887 votes amid 47 informal ballots. G E Acres took the treasurer seat with 697 votes, 4 informal votes. A plan for distributing work was rejected by 238, 66 in favor, amid 49 members against. Mr. Turner resigned as president of the draft committee.

Methreth Park man sues police for damages at Gawler
Cyril Arthur Bushell a soldier pensioner of Methreth Park sued two police constables Thomas Marsh and Clifton Norton for 250 pounds damages for alleged wrongful arrest and assault at Gawler on August 6. The court concluded the case with a settlement of 40 pounds paid to the plaintiff, judgment given without costs.

First Alberton Troop Boy Scouts Committee Fair Success
The First Alberton Troop of Boy Scouts held a two day fair in St George's Hall Alberton on February 17 and 18. The event raised about £100 for the troop funds with opening ceremonies by the Mayor of Port Adelaide Mr F J Brown and Dr P T S Cherry. Stalls covered work produce cake sweets refreshments flowers vegetables handicrafts and sideshows run by named volunteers. Arrangements were by S James secretary and G Coleman treasurer. The troop room is under construction.

Ormonde Arrives at Outer Harbor From London Voyage
The Orient mail steamer Ormonde commanded by Captain L. V. James berthed at the Outer Harbor Saturday morning after a calm voyage from London via ports. She landed passengers and discharged mails and cargo, sailing east again late in the afternoon. A large group of migrants was aboard, under welfare officer Dr. Garett of Adelaide University who oversaw their welfare.

Ceramic Arrives from Liverpool with Passengers at Outer Harbor
The White Star Line steamer Ceramic from Liverpool docked at the Outer Harbor on Saturday, landing 19 passengers from England and South Africa and discharging cargo.
