Rations Deceived For Port Adelaide Man

Harry Saunders of Port Adelaide was fined £3 with £14/ costs or 10 days in jail after obtaining rations on June 23 by false pretences. Prosecutor said Saunders received £7/11/8 on June 16 under an accident insurance, but failed to reveal this when seeking a relief order for £1/10/- at the Unemployment Relief Council office.

The Albert Park Invitation Homing Club held a race from Carrieton covering 169 miles on June 10, 1933. Fourteen owners sent 123 birds amid strong following winds and record speeds. winner was G Parvis’ belt WS A 31 768, with 3 920 yards per minute. Second was J Miers’ bob WS A ys 845, with 1 903 yards per minute. third was W Davis’ bol WA 32 2033, 168 miles 1 406 yards in g hrs 36 mins.

Birds compete in WA race with 15 owners sending 123 birds

On June 17 1933 fair weather saw 15 owners sending 123 birds. The winning bird owned by G Purvis Beve WA 32 1358 flew 169 miles 110 yards in 4 hours 31 minutes 34 seconds at 1094 yards per minute. Second place went to H Hawke WSA 32 2157 covering 169 miles 18 yards in 4h 32m 52s at 1002 yards per minute. Third was A Hefford WSA 32 860 168 miles 1 298 yards in 4h 33m mine at secs at 1086 yards per minute. Fourth place belonged to W Davis Red YB C 30 902 flying 168 miles 1 496 yards in 34 mins 26 sees at 1082 yards per minute.

Woman Fined On Rations Charge At Port Adelaide Court

Clarice Lizzy Ann Clemson 47, a recent arrival, pleaded guilty to obtaining three ration orders by false pretense between June 8 and 22. She admitted funds from a life policy and said the car belonged to a brother in law. Fined £3 with costs £14 in default ten days’ imprisonment. given 2 hours to pay.

Port Too Resolute For Norwood In Close Match

Port Adelaide beat Norwood by nine points with strong pressure on the wings and a sharp finishing run in the last quarter. Port’s pace troubled Norwood from the start as the Norwood rovers failed to check the tempo and Norwood had to shift defenders late. Port had five goals to a quarter hour while Norwood converted few, then Port pulled clear in the final five minutes to secure the win.
