Port Adelaide beat West Adelaide 14 to 12 with Ween starring for Port and Kempster and H Graham delivering for West. Ween anchored defense and boosted Port’s attack as Kempster’s six goals spurred West’s late push.
Samuel Kraeft a laborer from Port Adelaide failed to answer at Port Adelaide Police Court. A bench warrant was issued and he later appeared. He was fined £2 for indecent language in St Vincent Street with 14 days in default. A further seven days was ordered for drunkenness, and two months imprisonment for rogue and vagabond status after three drunkenness convictions in 12 months.
On a Saturday farewell, Port Adelaide Police Division honored Plainclothes Constables F. L. Butcher W. Scott and L. Payne. Butcher is transferred to Plympton Police Station as officer in charge while Scott and Payne move to the City Watchhouse. Sergeant C. Keene and Detective FP. J. Donnellan presented each officer with a travelling rug.
An old advertisement touts Woods Great Peppermint as a universal remedy for coughs and colds. The copy promises consistent relief, claiming the product never fails to cure or alleviate symptoms.
Robert Corlett a 42 year old seaman walked into Port Adelaide Police Station at 2 15 am holding a blood stained razor and case. He had a throat wound believed self inflicted and was taken to Adelaide Hospital after being restrained by Constable Matthias. A Seamen's Union member he arrived from Sydney roughly five months ago having walked most of the way.
The Port Adelaide branch of the Australian Government Workers Association reports retrenchments across all departments, with a loss of 570 members in the last year and nine months and about 400 men leaving in the past 12 months. It remains financially sound. The annual report was adopted and new officers elected, including E. R. Butler as president and J. D. Slack as treasurer. Delegates to the State Council are Carr and Butler, with life memberships awarded to several members.
