Port Adelaide residents face inconvenience as the Railways Commissioner ends the 5:45 a.m. Adelaide to Port Adelaide paper express. The new 5:55 a.m. service is slower by ten minutes and arrives twenty minutes late, delaying newspaper delivery for surrounding districts.
At the Port Adelaide Council meeting a motion by Dr Condon to raise outside staff wages prompted visitors in the gallery to applaud and interject. Alderman Anderson urged decorum and the Mayor warned that continued disruption could lead to the gallery being cleared.
Arthur Lewis a single man of Royal Park employed by Huddart Parker at the Dock suffered a cut to his left leg when a load toppled onto him while loading bags on Monday morning. He was taken to Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital for stitches.
Frederick Waldie a seaman faced Port Adelaide Police Court on Wednesday for indecency in St. Vincent Street on January 21. Two young women testified they saw him hurry ahead of them near Dockville and enter a vacant allotment by the Sailors' Home before the act. He tried to flee toward Brown's coal yard and Todd Street before being captured. Waldie admitted drinking heavily. Sr. J. T. James jailed him for one month to protect public decency.
The Town Clerk asked trustees appointed by organisations to covenant with the Corporation to complete the memorial by placing the statute on the base within five years. The committee replied it could act, but the Council’s move showed a lack of trust and referred the matter to the Works Committee.
Ruth Dial sister of two soldiers, one killed and the other in Egypt, defended herself by striking another girl who called soldiers silly mongrels. The court found her guilty of a technical offence and imposed a fine of 1 shilling with costs.
A letter from PRANK A. HALLIDAY of Rose Garden Aldgate dated January 6 1919 commends the 1st St Pauls Troop Port Adelaide for flawless camp behavior on the Hills grounds. He applauds Assistant Scoutmaster Albert Carter and Troop Leader Simons and invites the lads to camp again with a warm reception.

The Tramways Trust will build a circular 24 feet diameter bandstand north of the motor stand at Semaphore. It mirrors Kensington Gardens and resembles the Henley Beach stand. Construction is departmental and due to finish within a month. Concerts will follow once rolling stock suffices for the traffic.
Semaphore will stage a Foundation Day event featuring ketch, yacht and rowing races, swimming and other aquatics. The shore programme lists a 2 10 Sheffield, 4220 yards Handicap, and 310 Novice Handicap. Diver Salt will perform a deep sea dive from Spindrift near the jetty. spectators pay 1 shilling to watch from boats. Seaside venue accommodates 50 000 picnickers with a grand free holiday program anticipated to attract many.
At a council meeting reference was made to the death of Private P A Kershaw from illness abroad and a condolence letter to his relatives was decided. A social at Rosewater Methodist marked Miss Ida Robinsons transfer from Port Adelaide Public School to Peterborough, with thanks from church leaders and an evening of entertainment.

The town convenes a public meeting at Port Adelaide Town Hall on Tuesday February 4 1919 at 8 p m to decide the best use for the Sailors Home as originally intended. Mayor HL Smith announces the meeting from the Mayor s Parlor on January 23 1919.
