Interest Aroused In Port Adelaide Billiard Saloon Case
Port Adelaide Police Court heard why two Port Road Alberton men William Wells and Bert Campbell faced two Lottery and Gaming Act charges after a raid on a billiard saloon during racing at Evanston and Moonee Valley. Police recovered betting slips with names of racehorses and figures. Wells claimed no knowledge of the betting. Campbell said he was in charge in the saloon, which housed about 90 patrons on Saturdays. The case was adjourned as witnesses were arranged.

Unique Dinner for Eight Captains on Herzogin Cecilie in Port Adelaide
A rare gathering brought eight ship captains aboard the Finnish four masted barque Herzogin Cecilie at Queen's Wharf Port Adelaide. Special dishes and Finnish wines marked the dinner hosted by Capt Evend Eriksson Even of Markham. Attendees included Capt A H D Gransbury and Finnish consul E H Fromen among others. The Hertogin Cecilie was loading cargo and set to sail over the weekend.

Unemployed to Get Fire Wood From Ship Fides
A four masted auxiliary schooner named Fides lies in Port Adelaide Canal awaiting wreckers to salvage about 200 tons of timber for use as firewood. The vessel, built in Gothenburg about 15 years ago, never carried freight in port and has been through storms and multiple refits before being dismantled.

Ambulance unpaid use hits record in annual report
In the annual report of the Adelaide Motor Ambulance Committee secretary F Connlon notes a record number of nonpaying users. The ambulance made 345 trips with 129 unpaid, despite a 2b percent fare reduction, leaving the year with a small deficit.
