Micheel Joseph Crowe of Rosewater died this week at his home aged about 80. Born in Ireland he lived in South Australia for over 50 years and worked for Cresco Fertilisers Limited. A former Waterside Workers Federation Port Adelaide member he left no sons, two sons Michael and Edward and one daughter Mrs M Code. There are 17 grandchildren. Remains interred in the Catholic Cemetery Cheltenham.

At about 12:45 pm a group arrived at Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital with fireman Patrick Hincks 34 from the steamer Woniora. He had a fractured skull after an alleged attack in Portland. A man was detained by police on a charge of grievous bodily harm. He was taken to Port Adelaide Police Station for questioning. Hincks was moved to Adelaide Hospital for surgery.
