A mobile party of over 900 adults and children from Angaston and nearby districts visited Semaphore by special trains on Friday. Representatives from Angaston Mount Mackenzie Mocula Keyneton and Wien joined the joint committee led by Mr Sibley and Mrs Hura. The outing included beach and gulf trips, hot water facilities, and a seaside lunch hosted by the Mayor and Mayoress Mrs A R Tapp with Town Clerk Mr B Bradwell observing.
The Workers Memorial Committee met in Port Adelaide with Mayor A. R. Tapp presiding. Councillor Frank Condon moved to record appreciation for the mayor and mayoress. D. Jonas and Syd Robinson praised the mayor’s service, and the mayor thanked the citizens and colleagues for their kindness and memories of his term.
Mr Mark Johnson of Exeter was cycling along Seraaghne Road Glanville when a motor car struck him about 1 pm Saturday. A wheel pierced the car windscreen and Johnson was taken to Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital with cuts to hands and facial abrasions.
A motor car and a delivery van collided head on at Port Road Alberton around 10.30 pm on Saturday. The van capsized, with extensive damage. the car’s radiator front damaged. Driver D. T. Brown and his brother escaped injury. Others involved, including Antonio Glen and Telagis, were treated at Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital and Adelaide Hospital. Traffic remained one way at the site.
Jamon Barnes aged 2 hay rode a bicycle at Port Adelaide when it collided with a Metropolitan Tramways Bus around 4 45 pm Saturday. He was taken to Casualty Hospital with abrasions and shock.
Giovayne Manapoli, an ice cream vendor, pleaded guilty to working a mare harness while she bore a sore back. Police stopped him in Carliste Street Glanville on a Saturday. he claimed the mare’s back was sore for about three weeks. The court fined £3 and £1 costs, with seven days imprisonment if unpaid.
Edmond William Hall of Gordon Street Semaphore Park faced Port Adelaide Police Court on a November 19 charge of driving an unlicensed trolley in Castle Street Glanville. He pleaded guilty saying he paid for the license but his wife forgot to obtain it. A fine of 20 with 4 pounds costs was ordered.
Jack Ollrich a 14 year old from Alberton East suffered a foot cut from a projecting spike while running along a raft at the Portland Canal on Saturday afternoon. He received treatment at the Casualty Hospital.
William Edward Davis of Gill Street Kerrigcott was charged by Lieut Jarrett with failing to attend a compulsory drill on September 24. The ex parte case found him 224 hours short. He received four days detention at the Naval Depot and £1 costs, with three more days detention for nonpayment.
Herbert Lilley of Mead Street Exeter faced a Mead Street bicycle light violation charge. Inspector Noblet’s information stated riding without a light on the evening of November 18. The ex parte hearing assessed a fine plus costs and three days imprisonment for nonpayment.
The Maloja mail steamer opened the Maloja pavilion at Outer Harbor Recreation Reserve in the afternoon. Thousands arrived by train and boat for public inspection, with proceeds to the reserve committee. Captain Warner praised the effort and a naval band performed as a cricket match entertained visitors.
Rob ert Barker age about 18 of Elian Street Geamaphare was struck by a tractor attached to a trailer while riding a bicycle with Edward Cornish near Jecvois Bridge on his way to play cricket at Rosewater. Barker died or was fatally injured after being taken to hospital with suspected fractured pelvis. Cornish escaped with minor injuries. A Port Adelaide casualty hospital and Adelaide Hospital were involved in his care. The report also mentions subscriber figures and investment terms unrelated to the accident.
Treasury analysis shows public favoring short term Commonwealth loans in Australia since 1924. Total amount raised stands at 21 400 20034 with 210 638 subscribers.
