Australian champion Roughrider Snowy Thompson, back from England, criticizes American competitors as showy and unsportsmanlike in buckjumping tests. He recalls stiff rivalries, biased judges, and unsafe riding practices, finishing second to Canadian Peter Vandermore in the championship.
Mr and Mrs Bert Errol, members of the J C Williamson troupe, head Melbourne's season aboard MS Orvieto from London. Errol, a gifted female impersonator in tenor and soprano ranges, performs with his partner in Modes and Melo, aided by a pianist and French scenery by Marc Henri.
Port Adelaide Labor figures clash over migrants aboard the Ville de Verdun and internationalism in schools. J D Jonas criticises Adelaide Trades and Labor Council leaders for inconsistency while urging tougher handling of Mediterranean workers and questioning Australian workers' employment prospects amid the migrant batch.
Frederick Sproll pleaded guilty at Port Adelaide Police Court to using indecent language directed at Constable J E Allen in Semaphore Road and later in Post Office Place. He admitted drinking in Semaphore on August 23 and was fined £3 plus 15 costs, with default imprisonment.

A Semaphore to Port Adelaide passenger service crashed into a stationary goods train on a downward slope near the viaduct at Port Adelaide. The incident disrupted the Port line for hours, with crews and porters ensuring brakes and signals prevented further disaster. Minor damage and no serious injuries were reported, but the event highlighted risks of permissive signalling on the line.
Constables Cornish and Fendoloff report a 13 year old, Calligan, residing with his mother Mrs Olsen at 4 Commercial Road Port Adelaide, was knocked down in Hart Street Glanville near Con noe Street by a motor car driven by Ms James Hodge of Semaphore. He suffered severe injuries to the body and face and was detained at hospital.
An investigation into missing fish from Port Lincoln to Melbourne led to James Lee n Douglas, third cook on the Wandana, appearing before Port Adelaide Police Court. Inspector Noblet alleged shortages and the defendant admitted buying four whiting. a seven shilling sentence followed after guilty pleas.
