Prime Minister Bruce Addresses Referendum Meeting at Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide Queen Competition Crowned at Town Hall

A coronation ceremony for the Port Adelaide Central School Queen Competition was held in the Town Hall with large attendance. The event honored Lenore Johnson and Nance Smith as queens in the primary and infants divisions, and featured Lord Chancellor Harold McSweeney, Mayoress Mrs. A O R Tapp, and a procession of attendants. Total proceeds reached about £302 with substantial evening takings.

Deaths on the Kioto Aboard the Effermans Bucknall liner

Two Lascar crew members of the Kioto died at sea near Fremantle from beriberi after the ship reached Port Adelaide and berthed at Queers Wharf. Three other sailors were hospitalized with illness believed to be caused by the same disease.
