The Port Adelaide Orpheus Society held its second concert of the twenty ninth term at Woodville Town Hall on Monday evening with conductor illness leading to the baton being held by assistant conductor R D Rodda. The choir showed good balance and intonation despite the absence of Me J Leavey and showcased numbers including Comrade Am Arms Hark the Trumpet Gallett and The Rose. Soloists Miss Sylvia Thomas AM USA impressed with Ritorna Vincitor and Anny Lace encore while Miss Fema Roach’s violin pieces and Miss Nellie Kerr’s humorous recitals drew strong applause. Mrs Knowlings accompanied, and ensemble pieces by Messrs Mumme Croft Robins and fielded groups also drew recalls.
