The Semaphore and Exeter Local Committee of the ALP held its monthly long night euchre and dance at the Fall Semaphore on Saturday night. A large attendance enjoyed streamer decorations, prizes for the lucky spot waltz and card dance, and supper. Mr. Woodhouse led games, with acknowledgments to winners and donors. secretarial duties were by P C Lettre and J S Verran acted as M C.

Special services at Pennington Public School marked the establishment of the Church of Christ in Cheltenham. 76 attended morning service. 36 foundation members joined. Horse Kills Itself After Collision With Lorry
Early Thursday around 5.30 am dairy farmer Sydney Tucker was breaking in a young horse on Old Port Road New Queenstown when the animal bolted. It raced to Conrad's Road Royal Park and struck a lorry driven by Joseph Bates and his wife. The crash wrecked wheels and threw Mrs Bates. she was not injured. The injured horse later died before Const Hansberry could arrive to shoot it.

Cyclist Injured In Port Road Collision
A cyclist named E. Hawke of Albert Park was knocked from his bicycle after colliding with a motor car on Port Road Wednesday morning. He sustained a scalp wound, received treatment at Port Adelaide Casualty Hospital, and was allowed to return home afterwards.

Revered Rev J C Kirby Dies at 88 in Port Adelaide
The long influential Port Adelaide Congregational Church minister Rev J C Kirby died at his Jagoe Street home Semaphore after a brief illness at age 88. A social reformer and temperance advocate, he shaped liquor laws, women’s suffrage support, Montessori education, and national schooling in multiple states, arriving in Port Adelaide in 1880 to lead the local church.
