Death of Port Adelaide ironmonger in street collision

Port Adelaide businessman A W M White and his wife were struck while crossing St Vincent Street near the Empire Picture Theatre. White died in Semaphore that night from skull fracture and brain injuries. the coroner found no clear evidence of how the injuries were inflicted and noted bruises on Mrs White. Charles Sylvester and driver Sydney Harrison assisted and transported them to hospital.

Wreck of the Lemuel: Tasmanian schooner runs ashore near Millicent

The three masted schooner Lemuel bound from Tasmania to Adelaide ran aground eight miles south of Millicent after six weeks at sea and a rough voyage. Crew members were rescued by Millicent locals and four young men, with captain and others surviving the perilous breakup as the vessel settled on the beach. The Lemuel, 98 tons and 161 feet, owned by Tasmania’s Holginian & Sons, carried Tasmanian timber and general cargo for Adelaide agents A and E. Messurier.

Steamer Trimmers Fined at Port Adelaide Court

At Port Adelaide Police Court on Monday John Fetham and George Harald Wilkinson faced charge from Captain N. E. Bower of the steamer Ha opiad for untawfully selling tea. They were fined 25 pounds with costs 350 and imprisonment terms of 1 day for nonpayment.

A Royal Visitor at Queenstown Tent

An evening sermon at Queenstown on Sunday July 24 featured G T Walden, federal foreign mission secretary for the Churchies nominist, who spoke on Revelations 1 8. Motorcycle Fatality Near Alberton Baptist Church

Harold Joseph Moore of Port Road Alberton saw a motorcycle strike two men near the Alberton Baptist Church on Port Road Saturday night. Kenneth Arthur died from a fractured skull amid suspected alcohol involvement. Alfred Taylor of King Street Alberton was injured with a broken collarbone and shoulder blade. The inquest found the death accidental with no blame on anyone.

Port Line Interruption Delays Train at Commercial Road

A brief fault disrupted Port Line service as a Fort Adi arrival caused a pipe burst and brake issue near Commercial Road.
