Miss I A MacGillivray aged 44 and inspector since March 1 died on Saturday after a period on sick leave from the Factories Department since August. Daughter of former MP Ivar MacGillivray, she was loved for tact and sympathy and improved conditions for women workers. Chief Inspector J P Burnside expressed regret at the loss of a valuable officer.

Port Adelaide Club staged two races on Saturday afternoon. The Martindale Shield all boats race saw Gymea and Triton finish with fast times and The Weetana placing behind. The Old Time Skippers’ Race used 12 foot cadet dinghys with Seagull Ivy T Swallow Lillian Parama Canary Magpie Rip and Ripple among the starters and times recorded. Vice Commodore Fisher served as officer of the day.
