In the metropolitan area on Saturday last the election for the Federal vacancy caused by the death of the Right Hon. C. C. Kingston was contested by Messrs Roberts Ixbor and McLachlan independent. Roberts won by 5121 votes to 4887. Dance and Institute concerts follow with proceeds for Catholic Church and Institute fund. See advertisement for details.
The Lameroo Post Office records rainfall for the first five months of the year with amounts in pence per inch and days. For the week ending June 19 the total rainfall reached 22 points up to 9 p.m. with May at 8 inches 22 points and last week totaling 81 points of rain.
The Acting Minister of Education Mr Peake and M P Mr Senior visited Lameroo Public School on Friday the 12th. They praised the scholars and urged regular attendance. A new school building for Lameroo and nearby Pinaroo is promised, to be erected early next year with stone or brick.
