Superintendent Williams witnessed ore loading by a steam shovel at a mine. The Chew Automatic Shovel Co. built device, mounted on traction wheels, handles 0.75 cubic yards per dip and 500 to 750 yards daily. It will operate on No 1 level at Knob Hill. Catholic Ladies Aid to hold a dance and raffle at Miers Union Hall on Wednesday June 11 with refreshments.

Boundary Mining Notes With Tunnels Link Up
Boundary mining notes report a connection between the No 3 tunnel and the top foot level of Old Ironsides this week. The tunnel will extend to connect with the 200 foot level of Knot Hill mine. Sudden Death Near Midway Ranch
A young Englishman about 25 named A. E. Hartidge was found dead in bed on a Midway ranch Monday morning after a night drinking. He had left to return home Sunday with a Chinaman who rents the adjoining ranch. The constable reported no foul play and no inquest was held. The deceased’s wife and infant child recently left on a trip to England. The Nickel Plate Co. is building a road up Twenty Mile Creek to haul tuber for their duty and flume, with grading begun.

Head Severed From Body in Railway Yard Accident
A railway worker, Donahoe, was killed when he slipped under a caboose as ore cars backed up a grade in the CPR Boundary switching yards. Five cars passed over him, severing his head and an arm. The man, Irish, 42, single, had worked on ore trains from Granby mines to the granby smelter for six weeks. The body was taken to Clark and Binns undertakers. coroner notified. No inquest held. Relatives in Washington state and Indiana were advised as officials searched for a brother.
