UK merchant eyes BC Great Britain fruit trade link

Mr John Sinnelt of Macclesfield England spent days in Penticton and returns home hopeful a large fruit trade may grow between British Columbia and Britain. He notes BC apples on display sell well in England. large bright apples command the highest prices. He praises Ben Davis for profitability and stresses the need for thorough pest control and orchard health to protect the industry. War on Tent Caterpillar Threatens Vancouver Orchards

Provincial fruit pest inspector Thomas Cunningham reports tent caterpillars in Vancouver area in large numbers. Since January twelve inspectors have warned fruit growers and thirty thousand spraying bullets issued. an orchard in North Vancouver was destroyed yesterday as officials push immediate action with arsenate of lead to prevent defoliation of deciduous trees.

Cedar Creek belt shows rich ore pay zones despite low grade near foot

L. C. Barnes reports from Cedar Creek mining area 20 miles southwest of town that large iron lodes and high belt deposits yield strong pay on the upper creek and mountain. near the foot of the mountain ore is low grade and thinning in several ledges, prompting temporary quit. Assessments across the Cedar high grade belt indicate nickel plate level values up to 12 dollars per ton in places. several adits and veins show promising self fluxing magnetic ore with copper traces.
