Terrible Glasgow and South Western railway accident
A terrific crash occurred Wednesday evening at Dornock two miles south of Annan on the Glasgow and South Western Railway. The 3.25 pm Glasgow to Annan train derailed, the engine and several carriages toppled into a field, killing two passengers and injuring many others. Passengers were placed in a luggage train and rushed to Carlisle where medical staff treated them. Dead include T. B. Crowther, a Carlisle miller and town councillor, who died after saying he could not reach Carlisle alive. Guard Mitchell also died. others, including Mr Carr of Carlisle and Mr Nicholson, sustained injuries. The exact cause remains unknown.
