Motor Racing Meets Harnessed Speed At Bingara Race Day
On the second Bingara race day a motor car event ran against a racehorse. Arthur Simpson’s 24 hp motor with three passengers completed the one mile and one furlong Hospital Handicap in 1 minute 1 second, beating Gordon’s Catrin which finished fourth in 2 minutes 3 seconds. The car won by two seconds as the last quarter flashed by at top speed, drawing great excitement. Betting settled even.
