A Mullane family returning from mass near Newcastle on the Kerry road was attacked by armed men at Robison's bridge. Mullane and relatives were beaten. the eldest daughter was abducted on a horse with a man named Flanagan, and has not been heard from. Police captured three suspects that night and lodged them in Newcastle Bridewell.
