The Pas schools start August 31 with grades 1 12 from The Pas Reserve and Big Eddy. Elementary class allotments are announced and listed on page 3. War Memorial To Be Moved In Devon Park Manitoba

Town Council endorses moving the War Memorials from Devon Park to the Cook and Second intersection after a Royal Canadian Legion request citing vandalism. Ken Perry appointed town assessor building and license inspector to year end. Water contract with Cece Meadows renewed for one year ending 1965. Council to pay $722 in Manitoba Hospital premiums for residents in arrears.

Jessie Day Tops Local Horticultural Show

Mrs. Jessie Day won the Grand Aggregate at the The Pas and District Horticultural Show held in Guy Hall for the highest total points. She also captured the top cut flower award and the Ferncliffe Garden prize, with the Town of The Pas trophy going to Mr. Day for best home grounds.

New Cormorant Lake White Fish Study Sparks Debate

Biologists study Cormorant Lake to balance fisheries for commercial and sport anglers. Winter operations removed up to 75 900 pounds of white fish, netting high employment but reducing pickerel and trout. A storm forced an halt and displaced fish populations, with continued work to resume.

Conciliation Board Settles Three Year Contract

The union and town reach a three year agreement with formal ratification pending. Wages rise 4 cents an hour retroactive to January 1 with 5 cent yearly increases in 1965 and 1966. The contract runs through 1966 and includes a cost of living clause set at 185.3 with a 4 point rise allowance. CONTINUED ON PAGE 12.

Quebec Students Visit The Pas And Flin Flon Exchange

Twenty four grade eleven and twelve students from Montreal visited The Pas and Flin Flon as part of Canada’s centennial student exchange program. They toured by CNR train and Kelsey Bus Lines, attended a 250-strong dance, and shared sociable moments with Manitoba and eastern Canada students.

Maverick Mines Announces $400000 Underwrite

Maverick Mines and Oils receives approval from the Calgary Stock Exchange and the Alberta Securities Commission to underwrite 500000 treasury shares for 400000. Exploration manager Ray Skogsberg states the move finances the copper discovery made by Phillip Bachnick and H Howell near Cranberry Point.
