On Tuesday morning nineteen members attended the Golden Age Club meeting. Jan Illsley announced bowling resumes on Thursday September 15 at 2:00 p.m. Rates are 50 cents per game, 2 games for 1.25 and 3 games for 1.75. Members age 55 and over may bowl and must join the club. Contact Jim Davidson at 3-3677 to join or for more information. Syd Allen urged the workshop start soon and swimming remains an option. Erie and Audrey Batchelor of Taylor Avenue Housed by three children hosted a garden party on August 27 to mark their 50th wedding anniversary. Married August 23 1927 in St Alban’s Church Oak Lake Manitoba the couple earlier lived in England and Canada before settling in The Pas. Their children hosted a Winnipeg party the previous weekend and 278 guests attended the garden event with gifts including gold football shirts. The family will spend two weeks in Hawaii next January as a thank you gesture.
On Thursday afternoon a farewell party honored Mrs Fouad a longtime social worker who plans to pursue further studies in social work. The event featured music and a pleasant lunch as well wishers expressed support for her future endeavors.
A narrator recalls a wild afternoon as two boys quarrel and splatter with a hose while Grandad scolds and an ambulance is called after a chaotic supermarket and golf tournament day. The scene ends with a reference to The Argyle Syndicate.
