Opening of DREE projects marks growth in The Pas

Several ribbons were cut in The Pas marking openings under the Cree program. The $600,000 water treatment plant began operations months ago led by superintendent Russell Yachin. Taylor Made Strategy Seen For Churchill Area

Conservative policy labeled Taylor Made for Churchill includes vast regional aims. Keith Taylor, Progressive Conservative candidate, says the plan suits farms in the Interlake fishermen and croppers in Brochet and miners in Thompson, Flin Flon, Lynn Lake, Leaf Rapids, plus civil service towns from Churchill to The Pas. McBryde Appeals To Board Over TransAir Fare Hike

The Pas MLA Ron McBryde has appealed to the Air Transport committee to reveal why TransAir proposes a four rate increase on air fares to Northern Manitoba centres. In a telegram dated September 25 he notes TransAir files new fares to take effect October 1 1972 affecting travel among larger Northern Manitoba communities. While some excursion fare cuts appear, the basic economy rate could rise as much as 20 percent, a move McBryde says would hurt northern residents.

Council Names New Directors for Town of The Pas

At a special meeting Monday the council appointed McCormick as recreation director and Patrick Patry as pool superintendent. The recommendations came from Kelsey Recreation Commission after their meeting last week. Patry lives in Winnipeg and has Pan Am Pool ties. McCormick is from Souris and has spent 14 months as director in that town, raised in Flin Flon.
