A vocational counselling seminar was held at the Northern Manitoba Vocational Centre with about 15 attendees including counsellors and high school principals. The session reviewed centre courses and facilities, answered questions on trades and job prospects, and discussed new programs to integrate vocational training with academic courses.
Manitoba reports 232 fires burning 28 351 acres, the lowest in a decade. Comparisons show 638 fires in 1967 and 707 in 1961, with 1966 at 235. About 65 percent of fires from human activity. average size 123 acres. Largest fire near Peterson Creek north east of Lac du Bonnet at 9 000 acres. Two worst months were April with 46 fires and May with 85. Detection and suppression cost about 600 000 dollars due to water bombers and helicopters.
