Tomorrow The Pas Branch No 19 hosts Remembrance Day in M B C I Auditorium with a community fire alarm salute at 11 00. A special seniors bus runs 10 00 to 10 15 from Hill's Corner to Kelsey Housing Estates and Kin Kourt to the school. Charlie Illsley veteran of two world wars and Legionnaire is honored for his service in 1915 1919 1940 1945 and his long community work with The Pas Legion.

Town-CN land swap eyed to remove spur line at The Pas
Town Council in principle approves a land exchange with CNR to remove a diagonal spur line at The Pas north end. CNR would surrender land from Lathlin Street to Bell Avenue and acquire town properties along the east side of the mainline, enabling yard expansion and easing traffic at Seventh Street. Residents along the spur had petitioned last year to have rails removed and land sold.

Firemen respond to three calls two residences and grass fire
The Pas fire department answered three alarms last week including two private residence fires and a grass fire near parcels owned by Cal Gibson and Jack Kennedy. The grass blaze at 4 30 p m on Wednesday November 3 burned dry grass from a private compound into vacant lots. Crews limited hazards by burning adjacent lots while urging owners to clear debris. Kitchen smoke incidents occurred at 230 Paul when a wooden spoon fell on a dishwasher element and at 730 Settee where a timer burned out on a kitchen range.

RCMP report Tom Guy Lowe was arrested in Winnipeg and charged with break and enter and theft tied to a safe attack. He previously appeared in The Pas Provincial Judges Court, breaching three years of supervised probation after admitting to August 1976 break and enter theft offenses and restitution of $2100.
