R.H. Bob Foster, an airman at RCAF Station Clinton Ontario, completed the Communications Operator Course and earned honours status at the graduation ceremony.

Winnipeg Airman Bob Foster Returns to Duty

Bob Foster son of Mr H Foster now resides in Winnipeg and attended The Pas College Institute. He enlisted in the RCAF in March 1963 and graduated as an honour student from Manning Depot St Jean Quebec. He is transferred to Communications Unit RC AF Station Winnipeg and will report for duty after leave with his mother.

Overture Drive Sees Encouraging Signups for The Pas

Officials of The Pas Overture Concert Association report strong early results from the membership drive with 200 tickets sold at the campaign start. Three concerts are planned with the Carillons vocal ensemble on December 2, Malka and Jose on January 7, and the Leonard Sisters on April 20, offering diverse programs for locals.

Manitoba Fur Ties Tied to World Fair Symbol

CNR Studies Possible Local Bridge Alteration

Senior engineers of the Canadian National Railway study whether to modify the Saskatchewan River Bridge at The Pas to allow higher truck loadings. The bridge dispute involves truckers, the CNR, and the Manitoba Government with current limits at 54 000 pounds and calls to raise to 72 000 pounds.

Gideons Hold Western Manitoba Rally in The Pas

Zone 3 of the Gideons International of Canada held a weekend rally in The Pas on October 24 and 25 drawing about 40 members from Killarney Dauphin Swan River Thomson Mountain Brandon The Pas and Flin Flon The event opened Saturday afternoon with a seminar at Grace Apostolic Church led by John Main former Zone 3 leader focusing on improving relations between Gideons and local ministers.

Kobar Leads Polls in Local Election

Bart Kobar led the Pas Town Council race with 569 votes, Don Carnegie and Vern Bernstrom were re-elected with 510 and 394 votes respectively. Stan Reid polled 308, Christianson 818 voters participated of 2747 eligible, a 29.7 percent turnout. Elected officials take office January 1 1965.

Queen's Bench Opens at The Pas for North Dakota Murder Case

The Court of Queen's Bench criminal assize in The Pas, presided by Chef Justice G E Tritschler, opens with Cecil Charles Asuis and Henry William Chaboyer charged jointly with non capital murder in Jerome Granner’s death at Cranberry Portage. Also charged are Wilfred Christianson and Roland Francoeur with perjury from a bootlegging trial. Peter Choquette faces unrelated charges.

Halloween fun in The Pas despite scattered damage

Last Saturday Hallowe'en brought children in The Pas to door to door treats. Unidentified trick or treaters visited homes for apples and peanuts while a large Ghosts and Goblins group attended Elk's Hall for the annual party. Costume contests crowned winners in age groups 12 and 9 with no names provided.
