D-Day For Grand Rapids Approaches in Manitoba Hydro project

Manitoba Hydro plans a three billion cubic feet forebay covering 2400 square miles to back a 140 million dollar hydroelectric plant. Relocation of Chemahawin Indians and Metis to Cedar Lake, new Easterville Moose Lake settlements, and wildlife habitat work accompany dam and dyke construction as flooding nears. Tenders close June 11 for the Moose Lake North Narrows water control project with a 1500 foot sluice span and 12 foot gates.
